Group Piano Classes

what to expect

In these classes, children participate in hands on games that stimulate their visual and auditory senses. We use colorful whiteboard markers to learn music symbols, and we work as a team to master the skill of music reading. Group problem solving is emphasized as students rely on each other to build and grow as musicians. Each child also has individual time with their teacher to learn and play their music. Versland Studios uses a group class setting to help students focus, while providing peer motivation and accountability to practice from their peers.

Let's Go Piano! Class

For the Let’s Go Piano! Program, students will be given a book that they will play through to learn their music. This is a very fun environment where students learn at their own pace while achieving their goals. Students can start any time of the year whether it’s fall, winter, or spring. Classes meet once a week for 45 minutes.

Accelerated Piano Class

For the accelerated program, students are given a curriculum packet which ensures that they will progress and graduate to the next year. This packet contains a structured lesson plan that ensures similar expertise among classes and an appropriate level of challenge. During the year, classes meet once a week for 1 hour.

Breaks

For Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Spring Break, students are able to use these times off to catch up to their classmates if they are behind on their practicing. Students will also be given Christmas music to perform for family and friends.

Spring Recital

What better way to showcase their achievements and progress for the year than showcasing it for friends, classmates, and families? This is a fun and exciting time for everyone. Families love being apart of the recital.

End of Year Exam

This is a comprehensive examination of the student’s progress for the year. It is inspired by the Royal Conservatory of Music end of the year examination. This will be held on the last day of class before summer.

Summers Off!

Starting the end of June til the end of August, there will be no classes. Enjoy the time off with leisurely practice throughout the summer. This is a great time to rest before the next year's accelerated piano class begins.

what Parents think

“I love this new type of group piano lessons because I’ve seen a total change in my kid’s attitude towards piano lessons. My 9 year old daughter says this is the most fun she’s ever had in piano. She tells me she loves to get to socialize with girls her own age and play songs that they all like and share in common interest. It’s been a great way for her to meet new friends. My 10 year old son loves the fact that he doesn’t have to do it alone. He loves that he is a part of a group with a team name and loves to tell other people their group name. As a mom, it’s nice to see their responsibility to their group or team and fulfillment in their respective roles. They know others are counting on them to do their part and I can see they don’t want to let them down. I don’t have to fight them to practice—they love it!”

Orientation

A time and day will be set up for perspective students and parents who would like to see the studio. During the tour, you will get to meet your teacher and learn more about the class. This is the time to ask all of your questions.
